Response to the Wimpey Planning Application

In 1998 Reading Council consulted local people about the future use of allotments. The result was overwhelmingly that the land should remain open green space.

Shortly afterwards Reading Planning Committee decided on the Planning Guidance to be given to the Charity:

"at this time the council does not consider the principle of development on the site to be acceptable."

To conduct the consultation, a map like this was used along wiht a questionnaire. The areas A, B, C were shown on the map and people were asked about the future of each one. There was no significant difference in the responses for each area.

For simplicity Save our Open Space has also used these identifiers in section on Wildlife and Conservation Issues.
